FALL Junior Umpire Program

HEY TEENS.... Do you really like baseball?  Do you know the game?  Want to earn some extra cash?

FALL also offers Umpire positions to responsible, reliable teens who are knowledgeable & enthusiastic about the game!  You can even be a FALL player *and* be a Junior Umpire at the same time, if you'd like.

No previous experience is required but we're looking for teens ages 13-18 who can keep a calm and rational demeanor at all times.

JUNIOR UMPIRE REQUIREMENTS:

⚾   If you are interested in being a FALL Umpire, please complete the Umpire Registration Form on the FALL Website.  This will add you to our umpire distribution lists (so we can include you in upcoming meetings and training sessions) and get you into the process to be confirmed as an umpire.

⌂     You must be at least 13 years old by the start of the upcoming season in which you wish to umpire, in order to participate in the FALL umpire program.

⌂     For umpires under 18, you will need a parent or guardian to set up a FALL account and then register you under the junior umpire program. This is similar to how a player would be registered.

⌂     For umpires over 18, you will need to set up a FALL account and sign up as a volunteer in the adult umpire program.   NOTE:  All annual background checks for umpires 18 and older are mandatory prior to season's start, per Little League International requirements.

⚾   Attend all FALL Umpire training courses through to their completion.

⌂     FREE TO PARTICIPANTS, PAID FOR BY FALL.

⌂     Typically two (2) on-field mechanics sessions + one (1) rules clinic

2019 Spring Clinic Dates:
Field Mechanics Clinic #1:  Feb 3rd, 9am - 11am
Rules Clinic:  Feb 10th, 12:30pm  - 2:00pm
Field Mechanics Clinic #2
:  Feb 17th, 9am - 11am

2019 Fall Clinic Dates:
Field Mechanics Clinic #1:  Aug 21st, 5:30pm - 7pm

⌂    PARTICIPATION IS MANDATORY AT ALL THREE (3) CLINICS FOR ALL UMPIRES WITH LESS THAN 5 YEARS EXPERIENCE

⌂   All new umpires (no prior FALL experience) are required to complete 3 training games prior to being able to access games for self-assignment in the FALL Umpire game schedule system (Assignr) and be eligible to get paid for umpiring FALL games.

⌂   At the discretion of the UIC, an umpire may be worked into additional training opportunities in order to gain sufficient proficiency prior to being able to access games for self-assignment and be eligible to get paid for umpiring games.

⚾   Starting in Spring 2019, FALL Umpires will be required to wear Light Blue Umpire shirts (as well as Charcoal or Heather Gray pants, black belt, black socks, and a black hat) that you must wear at every game you officiate.

⌂   FALL will provide one (1) light blue Umpire shirt and black hat to all new and returning FALL Umpires this Spring.

⌂   New umpires would need to complete their 3 training games in order to receive their FALL-provided shirt and hat.

⌂   Returning umpires would be eligible to receive their FALL-provided shirt upon completion of the mandatory training clinics.

⌂   Protective gear will be provided at all game fields, if you do not have your own.

⌂   Plate umpires are responsible for providing their own ball bag, plate brush and indicator (ball/strike/out clicker).

⚾    Junior umpires may NOT be an active player in the Majors division, and umpire for FALL in the same division, regardless of age.

⚾    Junior umpires will usually be paired with a more experienced adult or junior umpire, whenever possible.

⚾   Please reach out to the Chief Umpire if you have umpiring questions or the Registrar if you have questions with the registration form.
