Folsom American Little League

FALL Umpire Program

How do I become a FALL umpire?

Umpiring Little League games is a challenging and very rewarding experience.  While many leagues utilize an all-volunteer umpire program, Folsom American Little League offers its umpires the opportunity to earn $$$ by the game!

If you are interested in being a FALL Umpire, please complete the Umpire Registration Form. This will add you to our umpire specific distribution lists (so we can include you in upcoming meetings and training sessions), and get you into the process to be confirmed as an umpire.

Here are a few items to be aware of as you register:

  • You must be at least 13 years old by the start of the upcoming season in which you wish to umpire, in order to participate in the FALL umpire program.  You will need a parent or guardian to set up a FALL account and then register you under the junior umpire program. This is similar to how a player would be registered. For more information, see our Junior Umpire page.
  • For umpires over 18, you will need to set up a FALL account and sign up in the adult umpire program.  This will allow you to enter the umpire payroll process and system, and have an annual background check completed.

Please consider being an umpire, especially if you are a manager or coach in FALL.  Often times managers and coaches from the upper level divisions umpire the lower divisions.  This helps FALL immensely and also provides valuable perspective to the manager or coach umpiring.

Nervous about giving umpiring a try?

Don't sweat it.  We provide several Umpire training sessions before the start of the season. Check the events calendar for dates.

Remember that all umpires MUST be 13 years or older before the end of the current season in order to do games in FALL and all new umpires are required to do 3 training games prior to being able to access games in the umpire schedule system (Assignr) and be eligible to get paid for umpiring FALL games.

Please reach out to Chief Umpire if you have umpiring questions or Registrar if you have questions with the registration form.

The FALL Umpire Program is a work program for individuals age 13 and older who want to participate in FALL games as umpires.  No experience is needed.  All training is provided by FALL.  The FALL Umpire Program is a great way for young adults and adults to participate in a community program, honor their love of the game, and earn a little extra cash.

REGISTRATION NOTES -- All youth umpires will register directly through the Umpire Program registration.  All adults (age 18 and over) will register as a volunteer under the Umpire Program.  Registrations for both youth and adult umpires will be transferred to the umpire payroll program and all umpires will have the opportunity to be paid.Address and school verification documentation information is not needed for the Umpire Program.  You can skip those sections of registration.

NEW FOR 2020 -- Direct Deposit for payroll. FALL is migrating to an automatic payroll deposit system for umpires that are 13 or older and eligible to be paid for games. We will no longer be mailing paper paychecks starting January 1, 2020. Umpire Payroll Process

For all games umpired, the data source will be the FALL Umpire scheduling website, Assignr.  Assignr will be the source of truth for determining who umpired which games, and payment to the individual(s) will be based on contracted rates as published on the FALL website. A report from Assignr will be created twice a month, and once verified by the Chief Umpire and Treasurer, it will then be forwarded to our check printer, Paychex for processing.  Payroll funds will be transmitted through Direct Deposit.

The following is an example of where to find information needed for FALL's Direct Deposit system.

If there are any questions about payroll please contact [email protected].
