Welcome to 2008 Winterball Registration

On-line registration for the 2008 Winterball programs is open through August 21st!

Program and Division Descriptions:

A note about League Age: Winterball League Age is determined by how old a player will be for next year’s Spring Little League Season.  All you need to do is figure out how old the player will be on April 30, 2009.  That’s the age we use!

Minor Division: This program is for players who will be 2009 League Age eight (8) through ten (10) who participated in any of the three Minor Divisions (Single A, AA or AAA) during the 2008 F.A.L.L. Little League Spring Season.  The Minor Division Winterball program is an instructional program, which will focus primarily on teaching and practicing the fundamentals of baseball, while making it fun for the kids.  The objectives of this instructional league would follow those set forth in the F.A.L.L. Foundation Program, which establishes minimum skill “goals” for each age group and division.

Major Division: This program is for players who will be 2009 League Age ten (10) through twelve (12) who participated in either the Minor (AA or AAA) and Major divisions during the 2008 Little League Spring Season.  The emphasis will be placed on player skill development in an effort to prepare the players for the “next step up” in their baseball careers.

Junior Division: This program is for those players who will be 2009 League Age thirteen (13) who played or were eligible to play in the Major division during the 2008 Little League Spring Season and those players who will be 2009 League Age fourteen (14) who played or were eligible to play during the 2008 Little League Spring Season in the Junior division.  For the thirteen (13) year olds, this division will be their introduction to baseball played on the larger full-size, 90’ base-path, 60’ 6” pitcher’s mound baseball field.

Senior Division: This program is for those players who will be 2009 League Age fifteen (15) and sixteen (16).  Senior Division games are played on the full-size, 90’ base-path, 60’ 6” pitcher’s mound baseball field.

The registration fees for all of FALL’s 2008 Winterball programs are:

$80 - early registration through July 31st

$85 - August 1 through August 21st

$110 - after August 22 (Late Registration -Space Available)

The F.A.L.L. Winterball program is instructional, designed to improve each player’s baseball skills, focusing on the fundamentals.  The program will compliment the objectives outlined in the F.A.L.L. Foundation Program.  No statistics or standings will be kept at any level of play.

The 2008 Winterball team selection drafts will be held during late-August 2008.  There will be no tryouts.  Teams will be allowed to begin practice in late August.  As we have done in prior years, we are working with Folsom National and other local, contiguous leagues with similar programs with which we can arrange and schedule inter-league play.

We hope and plan to start the Winterball “season” shortly after the Labor Day holiday (approx. Sept. 9, 2008) and run it thru Oct. 31, 2008.  During this approximate 7 weeks, we anticipate playing between 14 and 18 games, weather permitting.  Players should expect to be scheduled to play one or two games per week (there may be bye weeks), one on a week night evening on a lighted field and the other game on Sunday.   Teams generally do not hold scheduled practices once game play begins.

The Winterball program anticipates conflicts with other activities (soccer, football, school field trips, etc.) and maintains a fill-in player policy, whereby players from one team can volunteer for additional playing time by filling for another team’s regular players if they are unable to attend due to such conflicts.

Weekday evening games usually start between 5:30 PM and 6:00 PM.  Weekend games can start as early as 9:00 a.m. and the last game of the day will not start later than 6:00 p.m.  Weekend Winterball games are generally scheduled on Sundays.  Fields are assigned based on condition and availability.
