FALL Challenger Division Program
Division Representative:
Lance Moore 916-761-9367 or by email at lancegolfs@yahoo.com
Description: This
program is open to any youngster between the ages of 5 and 18 (or age 21 if
attending school) who is learning impaired or physically challenged. Teams
play against other teams within District 54. If you know anyone who might be
interested in playing, please contact Lance Moore at 916-761-9367 or by e-mail at
lancegolfs@yahoo.com
What is the Challenger Program?
The Challenger Program was established
in 1989 as a separate division of Little League Baseball to enable boys
and girls with physical and mental disabilities, ages 5-18 or the
completion of high school, to enjoy the game of baseball along with the
millions of other children who participate in this sport worldwide.
California District 54 is looking
for children in our community who would like to participate in our
Challenger Program. If you have a child with special needs or know
someone that does, please encourage them to contact our Challenger
Coordinators for more information on the 2007 season at
Matt Mauk by e-mail at
mattmauk@sbcglobal.net
or phone at (530)
676-4694. You may also contact
California District 54 District Administrator, Bob Fogle, by
e-mail at
bfogleda@comcast.net or by phone (916)
712-8836.
Interested in being a Challenger Buddy?
One of the benefits of having a Challenger Division is that it
encourages the use of "buddies" for the Challenger players. The buddies
assist the Challenger players on the field, but whenever possible,
encourage the players to bat and make the plays themselves. However,
the buddy is always nearby when needed. We encourage the children in
our regular little league program, over the age of 10, to play an active
role in our Challenger program by becoming a buddy ... if your child is
interested, please email us at the address listed above with your
child's name, address, phone number, age and local league name that they
currently play in. The buddies will be notified in mid-to-late February
with all of the necessary information on their challenger player.
Thank you for making the game even more
special for these participants!
